Welcome to the latest installments of the CPT Round-up for the month of June. The past month we saw The Tour rise in the far East, gathering talent from all over the Asian Region in Australia and Thailand. A legendary beast from the Rising Sun awakes, North America usual suspects continue their dominance and Latin America’s region is starting to take some form with the latino scene. Before we begin our coverage let me give my thanks to Michael Martin from Yahoo eSports for his feedback and corrections in some of the information given in last month’s round-up. Starting from this month until the end of the year we will highlight some of the most important news happening around the FGC that revolves around the major players in Street Fighter V and the CPT. The result section this month will be condensed instead of commentary for each individual event that already took place, it’s something that could be the new format moving forward. My apologies for the tardiness of the post this month, in addition to covering May’s event calendar, the first week of June will be covered. Here’s your roundup for the month of June:

Results
The month of May was a great one for Team Evil Geniuses, Justin Wong grabbed first place in all three events that took place in the North America Region, all coming from winners bracket. In the other side of the world, the third Premier Event in the calendar took place in France at Stunfest 2016. One of Evil Geniuses members, Yusuke Momochi won using Ken against Team Razor’s Keita “Fuudo” Ai and his impressive R. Mika play, in which is being considered one of the most intense Grand Finals by far this year. Asia began his string of events for the region, three to be exact. Victories on those came to Tatsuya Haitani, Hiroyuki “Eita” Nagata and CPT 2015 winner Ryota “Kazunoko” Inoue, all of which took qualifying spots for the Asian Regional Finals.
Latin America had its share of action, all of it took place in countries of Peru, Mexico and Colombia. Chilean player Felipe Patricio Torres Carvacho aka “Misterio” from Team Brook Gaming, one of the strongest representatives from the latin FGC, took first place in Salty Lima 3, grabbing a spot for the Latin America Regional Finals. Chris Tatarian got a bid also by winning in Japonawa X where it took place in Mexico. Finally in Colombia, Team Evil Geniuses Kenneth “K-Brad” Bradley came and took top honors to secure a spot in the Region’s Final. Here’s the results for all of May and first week of June:

Leaderboards
With multiple events taking place all over the globe at the same time in some instances, the spread of points is growing by the month, something to be expected. With Tokido just going to Stunfest in May and Team Razer’s Seonwoo “Infiltration” Lee absent from all CPT activities since his win in NorCal Regionals, the path was open for Evil Geniuses Justin Wong to take top place in the Global Leaderboards standings. Not just that, but thanks to his four straight first place wins in the Ranking Event calendar in North America, the gap in points for that Regions leaderboard is growing for the Karin player, elevating his chances to qualify for the CPT Finals by points only. Another thing to point out that half of the NA Region events has taken place, six players have already taken spots for the Regional Finals. One unfortunate player, Team Evil Geniuses Eduardo “PR Balrog” Perez is in the middle of those that have qualified, this by not placing high enough under already NA Regional Final bid players in those instances on the event calendar. The biggest rise in the Global scale this month goes to Brook Gaming’s Misterio, who with his win in Peru and runner-up performance in Colombia brought him from being outside of the top 25 to tenth place. Here’s the leaderboards as of June 5th:

Upcoming Events
In the Regional side of things just one event will take place in Asia and Europe respectively, One in Taiwan and another in Russia. But two huge Premiere events will gather top tier talent across the globe, as one of the biggest and more respected events outside of EVO, Community Effort Orlando, will take place in the state of Florida. In the other side of the globe, the people that brought us Dreamhack Austin, will be host to one of the largest gathering of the top talent from all over Europe and Asia in the land of Sweden for the Summer Edition of Dreamhack 2016. Here’s the rest of upcoming events in the June calendar:
Premiere Events
Dreamhack Summer 2016 – Jönköping, Sweden – June 18th to 21th
CEO 2016 – Orlando, Florida – June 24th to 26th
Ranking Events
TWFighter Major 2016 – Taipei, Taiwan – June 10th to 11th
Moscow Fighting Arena 2016 – Moscow, Russia – June 11th to 13th
So there you have it folks, that’s all she wrote for this month of June. A lot of points are gonna be given in these two future Premier Events in particular, the Global Leaderboard will be an interesting place past June when all is set and done. Once again I want to give my thanks to Michael Martin from Yahoo eSports and his feedback from last month’s round-up. If any of you have any feedback about content or questions regarding the CPT in general, you can contact me on twitter @silverpr for any feedback or ideas. See you all next month.
