Weird PS4 System Failure?

I’ve been running into this odd PS4 system failure. It just started happening randomly. Definitely not the TV, which has been functioning completely normally. The system starts sending buzzing noises through the speakers, then the TV starts flickering. Eventually the controller turns itself off and then the PS4 just turns off.

Here is a video of the full process:

This happened twice (above is the second) and now the system won’t boot at all.

Stay tuned for updates.

Update: 1/14-

I’ve contacted Sony. The same problem persists, I just can’t boot the system anymore. Will not put out video, turn on white light, or display the Playstation logo. Also won’t boot to safe mode.

Talked to a Sony representative and they’ll be sending me a coffin to store the system in. As soon as they receive confirmation that I’ve shipped my console to them, they’ll send me a new one.

This exact thing happened with my first PS4, but it started the day I got the system (November 15th). Just call Sony and have them replace the unit. I think it’s one of three possible things: bad HDMI port, power supply or HDD port (not the HDD itself).

  • YOUDIEMOFO

I would do that and maybe the next time not put my console on the floor and especially not on some carpet…..

  • thebanditking

Seems like the graphics card/HDMI just send it in. It sucks though, I know how frustrating this stuff can be.

  • Damian Wayne

WHY oh WHY is your console on the floor?? it’s a dust magnet that way, and if someone in the household bumps into it they won’t tell you.

  • Escopablobar

That sucks. I made sure I got the extended warranty. You never know when or if things will go amuck.

  • spideynut71

Probably the power supply. Just unplug it, and send it to Sony for another one. Oh wait…..

  • Chuck Green

Ya it looks like your console is on carpet??? What’s wrong with you? That’s a dust and static nightmare for electronics! If I was Sony I wouldn’t warranty this.

  • CCM

Get your console off the damn CARPET dude!

  • CCM

The best place to have a game console is on a shelf or table with a completely open front and back so the hot air can move away from the console. There are multiple things wrong with how you have your’s setup. Carpet for starters, nowhere for that hot air to escape under that desk, other electronics which also generate their own heat right beside it etc.

You’re getting refunded for something may have been your fault, carelessness with electronics.
Sony’s been pretty PR-Friendly lately, so you’re in luck. They’re taking in allllll refunds.

cry some more pretntious sony licker.

Hey guys this guy doesnt have a ps4, yet he defends them to death.

Which means that either he is a stupid kiddo with nothinb better to do.

OR that as he said himself, he is avoiding to get one right away in order to avoid failures.

There is your frailre sony fantard, isnt that why you avoided buying a ps4?

Seriously just buy a ps4 so you can shut up and play some games…whats that? ps4 has no games? Oh i guess that makes sense.

Stop spreading fanboy FUD, lies, and hate and get help. It’s not
healthy to hate pieces of plastic and people who like playing video
      games on them.

You are mentally diseased and evil.

Generally I contact Sony prior to blog posting, but that’s me. 🙂

    Anecdotes aren’t very newsworthy.

Awe bummer, looks like a lose cable in the HDMI cord to me or something in there.
