Ladies and gentlemen, the Tour has begun. The first stop was in France in the city of Cannes, followed by two stops coast to coast in the US, which where Premiere Events. The last stop that will cover is one that went down in the UK the first weekend of April, I’m adding this one because of schedule reasons from my part, I hope in the future these round-ups come out on time. So without further adieu, here’s the roundup:
The first four events of the Tour took place in places like France, Scotland and the United States. The ones in the United States where both Premier Events, those are CPT Final Qualifiers. It’s really important for many of the Pros to participate in these events not just for early points grabbing, but to see if they can earn a spot early in the Finals come December.
Premier Events
Final Round 19 – Atlanta, GA – March 18th to 20th
As the first Premier Event of the Tour, this one saw an all time record attendance of over 1,000 participants for SFV. Talent from Asia made their presence in this long running, established event. Guys like Infiltration, Tokido, Haitani to name a few came across to try make an early mark in the Tour. But the US talent wasn’t absent here, guys like Justin Wong, Filipino Champ and protege SonicFox make presence in the event. The event wasn’t a smooth ride overall, late registration came with situations where some players were put in different brackets after the fact. Some got DQ because they were misinformed, some got early when they didn’t needed to be, causing headaches to a few. Not only that, the event experience some malfunctions and controversies of pause matches (in which is a conceded match) that came from faulty PS4 USB ports and actual fightstick controller malfunctions from top tier talent, specifically Team Razer Fuddo and Xian. In the end, Infiltration, one of the great ones in USFIV took top prize and secure a spot in the CPT Finals. Here are the results:

NorCal Regionals 2016 – March 25th to 27th – Sacramento, California
The second Premier event took place across the west coast in the north side of California. This event has a strong scene by the fact that is mostly a NorthCal versus SouthCal rivalry between both communities in the FGC, even though the foreigners come to spoil the party to both sides. The event had a never before seen in years situation, in which late registration players were put in a “Death Bracket”. In many FGC events, late registration is common for local and out of town players. Because of this, seeding in brackets can make last minute changes, causing a hassle for tournament organizers and bring undesired situations. John Choi, Tournament Organizer for NorCalReg wasn’t having any of this, so He decided to do what I think should be the “Standard” with events going forward, add all late registrations to a no seeding, random placement bracket. This became the bracket to see for all FGC enthusiast, since it became full of notable names like K Brad, Mago to name a few. But Marn, considered one of the all time greats in Street Fighter games, came all the way from Vietnam to participate. Not only that, but came out victorious from the “Death Bracket” and ended up 4th place overall in the tournament. But in the end, it all came down to a Grand Finals repeat from Final Round 19 between RZR|Infiltration and MCZ|Tokido. Coming Infiltration on top, he stole an automatic spot for the CPT Finals, this will be explained later in the Leaderboard section. Here are the results:
