5.Trials Evolution
Sometimes I just want to punish myself. Some people have games like Super Meat Boy or Dark Souls, I have Trials Evolution. I got hooked on the series with Trials HD and couldn’t wait for Evolution to release. The amount of time I have spent trying to perfect a run is crazy. Hours would have passed by before I realized it and yet I still didn’t have the fastest time on a track. Give this game just 30 seconds of your time and you will be hooked.
4.Guild Wars 2
I’m sure you can see a theme developing with my list, I love games I can play with friends. The group of friends I play with are always looking into the latest MMOs. Guild Wars 2 is the first one that has really hooked all of us. It creates a world that makes it’s so easy for you to login and just start playing. Questing comes naturally as you are adventuring in the world. This was a great design choice as it encourages exploration. It also makes it easy for you to join up with a group and feel like an actual adventurer in this world. I’m excited to see what ArenaNet has planned for future expansions.
3.Diablo 3
There have been so many complaints about this game. I can even list plenty that I have as well. Everyone wanted Diablo 2 HD. The game that Blizzard delivered isn’t that. Diablo 3 is it’s own game, and that game is something I have over 200+ hours in. I have a Barbarian that makes me feel unstoppable and anytime I play with a Witch Doctor, we can destroy groups of mobs with ease. Diablo 3 does such a great job of making you feel powerful that you never want to stop playing. I hope the complaint many people do have are addressed in the first expansion. I know I will be there day one to try out whatever Blizzard has planned.
2.Borderlands 2
I played a lot of Borderlands but it always felt like it was missing some key pieces. Borderlands 2 delivers on the promise of a bigger and better game. My biggest praise for this game has to go to the writing. Bringing on Anthony Burch was an excellent move and it paid off. While the quest for the next best gun keeps you going, it’s the story that makes you really feel a part of the world now. I’ve spent around 60+ hours in BL2 co-op and have loved every minute of it.
1.Torchlight 2
I’ve spent more time this year with Torchlight 2 than any other game. I’m a huge fan of action RPGs, and TL2 does everything right. The classes follow the similar archetypes of melee, caster, and hybrids but feel different enough to make them all fun to play. The real reason I kept going though is the loot, and there is tons of it. When I finally finished my final gear set for my Engineer it was an amazing feeling. I just sat back and looked on at how awesome I now looked. I’m sure there are ARPGs out there that might do certain things better than TL2, but none of them deliver a total package like this.
