Alex’s Reviewer’s Thoughts:
It’s hard to make any buts with me in Metroid Dread. Mercury Steam set out to make a classic to follow up a classic, and they just nailed it. Some of the best movement, mobility, and power-creep in a game like this, I’ve played it four times and regret nothing. Metroid Dread is just a phenomenally well made action 2D platformer, a great return to form for Samus Aran, the best 2D Metroid you can play right now, and just a worthy follow up to Metroid Fusion. It’s all a Metroid fan could ask for, and with Prime 4 on the way, it makes it feel like the holidays.
